On most brokers one XAUUSD pip is a $0.10 move in the gold price, worth $10 per standard lot (1.00), $1 per mini lot (0.10) and $0.10 per micro lot (0.01). That's because one standard lot is 100 troy ounces: $0.10 × 100 oz = $10. A full $1 move in gold is 10 pips, worth $100 per standard lot.
Pip value = Lot size × Contract size × Pip size
You hold 0.30 lots of XAUUSD. That's 0.30 × 100 = 30 ounces, so each $0.10 pip is worth 30 × $0.10 = $3 and each $1 move is worth $30. If gold moves $15 in your favour — 150 pips — you make 15 × 30 = $450.
If your platform shows a different number of pips for the same move, switch the pip definition above to match. To turn pip value into a position size for your risk, use the XAUUSD lot size calculator; to price a finished trade, use the profit and loss calculator.
On most brokers, 1 pip on XAUUSD is $0.10 of price movement, worth $10 per standard lot, $1 per mini lot (0.10) and $0.10 per micro lot (0.01). Brokers that count pips as $0.01 show ten times as many pips for the same move.
A $1 move in the gold price is 10 pips when a pip is $0.10, or 100 points when counted in $0.01 steps. Either way, $1 is worth $100 per standard lot.
100 pips on XAUUSD is a $10 price move. That's worth $1,000 per standard lot, $100 per 0.10 lot and $10 per 0.01 lot.
0.01 lot is 1 ounce of gold, so each $0.10 pip is worth $0.10 and each $1 move is worth $1.
No. On EUR/USD a pip is the fourth decimal (0.0001); on XAUUSD it's usually $0.10. Pip values also differ because a gold lot is 100 ounces rather than 100,000 currency units.
